1. Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to MathStar. By accessing or using our website, services, and applications (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

If you are using the Service on behalf of a school or organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Description of Service

MathStar provides an online mathematics practice platform designed for children in Year 1-6 and those preparing for 11+ examinations in the UK. The Service includes:

  • Interactive maths questions and games
  • Progress tracking and reporting
  • Parent/teacher dashboards
  • Multi-device access (subject to plan limits)
  • Offline practice capabilities

3. Account Registration and Security

3.1 Account Creation

To use the Service, you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update such information to keep it accurate, current, and complete.

3.2 Account Responsibility

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

3.3 Children's Accounts

By creating child profiles under your account, you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of those children and have the authority to provide consent for them to use the Service.

4. Subscription Plans and Payments

4.1 Plan Types

MathStar offers the following subscription plans:

  • Parent Plan (£30/year): 1 child account, up to 2 devices, 1 device reset per year
  • Family Plan (£50/year): Up to 3 children, up to 4 devices, 2 device resets per year
  • School Plan (£300/year): Unlimited students, unlimited devices, teacher dashboard, student management

4.2 Payment Processing

All payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your payment information. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on an annual basis until cancellation.

4.3 Refund Policy

We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee for new subscriptions. If you are not satisfied with the Service, contact us within 14 days of your initial purchase for a full refund.

4.4 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account dashboard. Upon cancellation, you will continue to have access until the end of your current billing period. No partial refunds are provided for unused time.

5. Device Limitation and Anti-Sharing

To maintain the integrity of our service and prevent account sharing, we implement device-based access controls:

  • Each plan has a maximum number of registered devices
  • Devices are automatically registered upon first login
  • You can manage registered devices in your account settings
  • Exceeding the device limit will block new device access
  • Annual device resets are available as specified in your plan

6. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree not to:

  • Share account credentials with unauthorized users
  • Attempt to bypass device limitations
  • Use automated systems or bots to interact with the Service
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity of the Service
  • Post or transmit any harmful, offensive, or inappropriate content

7. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of the Service, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons, images, audio clips, digital downloads, data compilations, and software, are owned by MathStar or its licensors and are protected by UK and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MathStar shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from:

  • Your use or inability to use the Service
  • Any unauthorized access to or use of our servers
  • Any interruption or cessation of transmission to or from the Service
  • Any bugs, viruses, or other harmful code that may be transmitted

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. MathStar makes no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, regarding the operation or availability of the Service, or the information, content, and materials included therein.

10. Modifications to Service

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part thereof) at any time, with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the Service.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any legal action or proceeding arising under these Terms will be brought exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.

12. Changes to Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. The most current version will always be posted on our website. By continuing to access or use the Service after revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Terms.
